Where the figures come from.

The provider

Squads, appearances, minutes, goals, assists, cards, saves, goals conceded, fixtures, standings and the per-match ratings underneath them come from api-football (API-SPORTS v3). Nation names and flags, club names and crests, and competition names and emblems come from the same place.

The current ingest covers 35 competitions, 616 clubs and 22,772 players representing 151 nations, for 2025/26. Competitions are curated: each one is a nation's top domestic flight, which is the rule for entering the tracked set at all.

What the Atlas computes

Atlas Rating, Atlas Club Rating, Atlas League Rating, League Strength, Country Index and Development score are all derived here, from the figures above, by the engine described in the methodology. So are the percentile cohorts on a player profile, the rank movement on every ranked screen, and the ordering that puts countries first in search results. None of them exists upstream.

What the provider does not supply

These are gaps in the source data, not in the design. Each is left visible rather than papered over with an estimate:

• Competition tier. The league payload distinguishes a league from a cup and says nothing about depth, so tier is supplied by the curated table instead — a statement of the selection rule, not an inference about the competition.
• Club count per competition. No league record carries one, so the figure shown is a count of the clubs whose players the Atlas holds, which can differ from the size of the competition.
• Match venue. Fixtures are stored without a venue, so match tables name the home club's registered ground. That is an inference: a tie moved to a neutral venue would be named wrongly.
• Squad coverage. A small number of clubs return no players from the provider's league-players endpoint. Their pages are left out rather than published with a club rating computed from nobody.
• Season history. One season is ingested. Trends, career arcs and year-on-year movement need more of the archive, and the screens that would use it say so.
• Transfer fees and valuations. Not modelled anywhere. Where the design asked for a value, the Atlas shows what it does measure — production — instead.

How current it is

Figures are recomputed from the store on a dated snapshot, and every ranked screen reads its deltas and movement from those snapshots rather than from a live diff. The date a figure was captured travels with it, so a page can never present a stale number as a current one.

Other substitutions

Flags are served by flagcdn.com. Player photographs and club crests are the provider's own media. Typefaces and icons are open substitutes for the brand faces, as the design system records.
